Topsail Island is located just north of the Port City of Wilmington, North Carolina and just south of Jacksonville. Our beaches are wide and uncrowded, with white sugary sand and turquoise blue water. Topsail Island's sounds and inlets were said to be favorite hiding places for the infamous pirate, Blackbeard. Now, those same sounds, bays and inlets are the favorite haunts of boaters, fishermen, and water enthusiasts. The ICWW separates the island from the mainland and provides easy access to the waterway for islanders and mainland residents alike. Topsail Island is 26 miles long and is divided into three towns. Topsail Beach, located on the southern end of the island, is home to the "Turtle Hospital" one of the few such facilities in the United States devoted to the rescue and rehabilitation of sick and injured turtles. Surf City, considered the commerical hub of the island with its restaurants, shopping, full service marina with both dry and wet slips, and the city park with public boat launches, piers, daydocks, playground and picnic shelters is located mid way. North Topsail Beach, favored by those seeking solitude has one of the only high rise resort complexes on the island.
